I’m a huge fan of a bed and breakfast stay in the USA. While hotels are still a great solo travel choice, B&Bs often have something a little bit extra when you’re travelling by yourself. Read more here. When it came to my trip to Texas, i stumbled across an absolute gem of a bed and breakfast Fort Worth. Read on below to learn more.
bed and breakfast fort worth: the texas white house

I came across The Texas White House during my usual extensive accommodation search pre-travelling. Having looked through some of the hotels in Fort Worth, i was keen to stay somewhere a little different and away from the main tourist hubs.
First things first, reviews. The reviews for this B&B are excellent and it seemed to have everything i was looking for. About 15 minutes from Downtown Fort Worth (c. $8-9 Uber). Close to attractions like Fort Worth Zoo and the log cabin village. A heap of eating options a couple of streets over. Small in size (less than 10 rooms overall). And the room that sold it to me completely. The Honeymoon suite.
honeymoon suite for one
While it may seem like an odd choice, booking extra luxury in your accommodation is a great way to up your solo travel experience. And this particular choice was a thing of beauty.

The Honeymoon Suite takes up the whole top floor of the Carriage House. The Carriage House is a separate building in the grounds out the back of the main Texas White House accommodation. The bedroom area is spacious and well dressed. The bed is enormous and super comfortable. And you’ll find a ceiling fan as well as a separate air-con unit to help keep cool in the Fort Worth heat. You’ll also find a TV, separate armchairs, a small table and chairs and a huge walk-in closet. In the closet is a mini-fridge. The fridge comes stocked with goodies for you to enjoy free each day. Including a nice little bottle of sparkling wine which is a great treat at the end of a hot day!
jetted spa tub and luxury amenities

What really started to swing me on this room was the bathroom. I’m usually a shower kind of girl. But this room comes with a super-size jetted spa tub. And this appealed to me in a big way! After a long day of walking the city, this particular amenity seemed ideal. And so it was. Around 15-20 minutes to fill, it was worth the wait. There is no fixed shower in this bathroom but there is a handheld shower head in the tub. So you can still wash your hair with ease. Luxury soaps and body lotions topped it all off and made this bathroom one of my favourite things about staying at The Texas White House. Why should couples be the only ones to enjoy a super-sized tub?
texas white house bed and breakfast fort worth: extras

But this room didn’t stop there. Nope, it was the gift that kept on giving. Also in this room next to the walk-in closet is your very own private in-room sauna. This might seem a little counter-intuitive given how hot it is in Fort Worth for much of the year. But as i was advised, this was a great place to unwind while waiting for the tub to fill. Just make sure to fill the tub a little cooler than usual so you can cool down properly afterwards!

The final thing that tipped me to staying here and in this particular room was the small balcony just outside the room. At the top of the stairs and holding a small table and chairs, this is a great place to sit out during the day. You can even have breakfast up there if you so wish.
And that was that, my research told me that this was the place for me to stay in Fort Worth. The other room selections, while not coming with quite as many extras, are also fantastic choices. If it sounds like this bed and breakfast could be for you too, check the latest prices on Expedia here.
the texas white house: what makes it standout
From Cindy the current owner, to Mindy the manager and the rest of the team. The Texas White House has the most welcoming and friendly staff you could hope for. They do a great job not just in running and maintaining the houses and grounds, but really making you feel like you’re at home. And they also went out of their way to help satisfy this girl’s pumpkin obsession. We don’t get much in the way of pumpkin baked goods in the UK. So i do love to sample them when i’m in the States. Freshly baked pumpkin chocolate muffins provided by the team did the trick!

The grounds are beautiful and well looked after. And if the sun’s shining and you want to relax outside, you can have a lazy nap in the hammock!

All in all, there was nothing i didn’t enjoy about my stay at The Texas White House in Fort Worth and i wouldn’t hesitate to stay again. Or recommend it to other travellers, solo or otherwise. If you’re travelling solo and you want a fun, relaxed environment and beautiful accommodations in a great location – then this is the place for you.
